Skate Canada Manitoba Executive Committee has engaged with our various stakeholder groups to discuss our options and viability to offer a meaningful performance opportunity for our skaters in Virden Manitoba on November 7 & 8, 2020 (2021 Skate Canada Manitoba Sectional Championships weekend).
We are grateful to have our skaters currently on the ice and slowly returning to their training in these unprecedented times. We want to also extend our thanks to our club executives, coaches, parents and skaters for following our Return to Play Protocols, which allows us to remain on the ice.
As we are all navigating through the COVID 19 Pandemic and doing our best to remain safe and follow the rules, we still need to move forward albeit cautiously and deliberately. While November 7 -8 is approximately 12 weeks away, there is a lot of planning and logistics to work through, which is why we created a Go-NoGo time-frame in announcing our events.
We have decided to proceed with providing our skaters with at minimum a Meaningful Performance Opportunity on November 7 & 8th for skaters in Pre-Novice and Up.
At this time, it is our intent to have the November 7-8th event as our qualifying event to determine which skaters will represent our Section at the 2021 Skate Canada Challenge Event in Edmonton Alberta November 23-29th as long as circumstances allow it to be.
At this time, we do not have further details to share on the specifics of the event. As logistics and modifications of the event are being developed by the various stakeholder groups with support from Skate Canada Manitoba and as dictated by the current environment and the Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer, Province of Manitoba, we will share with you as soon as we can. We thank you for your continued support and patience as we adapt to our new circumstances.
