Join Skate Manitoba’s Learn to Train Committee for a magical day of skating, learning, and Halloween fun at the Skate with Us Seminar. This exciting event is designed to inspire young skaters while giving them the opportunity to learn from experienced coaches, performers, and skating leaders.
Participants will enjoy two on-ice sessions focused on skill development, along with a variety of engaging off-ice activities designed to build confidence, creativity, and a love for the sport. From a festive Halloween-themed session to dance and movement activities, skaters will experience a full day of learning both on and off the ice.
But that’s not all!
Skater’s will also have the opportunity to watch live performances from a Disney on Ice performer and other talented guest skaters, bringing a little extra magic to the day.
Skaters will also learn about the exciting opportunities that await them as they continue their skating journey and discover the many pathways available within the sport.
Parents and coaches won’t want to miss our special information session exploring “What’s Next After STAR 4?”, offering guidance, insights, and answers to help support skaters as they progress.

Vanessa Navarro is a professional figure skater with Disney On Ice. For the past 4 years she has performed all around the world portraying roles such as Moana and Mirabel. Vanessa also professionally dances in Winnipeg. She has 19 years of dance training in a variety of styles.
Tina Chen has over 30 years of coaching experience, with a focus on skating skills, choreography, program component development, dance, and artistic skating. She has choreographed and coached international competitors, national champions and competitors, and numerous provincial champions. Tina enjoys coaching in a team environment, and currently coaches in AdultSkate, Special Olympics, STAR, and Podium Pathways. Tina is also a member of Skate Canada’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Operating Committee, and is a national educational lead and consultant for Skate Canada’s “Skating for Everyone” strategic pillar.Â
I am a Provincial Certified Coach, Regional Coach Learning Facilitator, Head Coach at Skate Winnipeg, CanSkate Coordinator, Assessment Chair and Volunteer Competition Chair. I began my coaching journey in 1997. I currently coach the CanSkate and STAR 1-5 programs, STAR 6-Gold, Podium Pathway and Adult athletes. I have enjoyed coaching skaters at many competitions including Skate Canada Challenge an Trophy. I am grateful to work with a team of supportive coaches and club volunteers who share the goal of creating a supportive skating community.
