Will Russell is an experienced sport lawyer with a background in dispute resolution, employment, governance, and Sport Integrity matters.
Will moved to the Maritimes in 2006 to attend Mount Allison. While spending his summers working on a Search and Rescue crew, Will fell in love with the East Coast, later completing degrees at Dalhousie University and the University of New Brunswick. He practiced with a leading labour and employment firm in Halifax before joining Sport Law in 2021.
Will’s focus is assisting sport organizations across the country at every level navigate disputes and develop effective frameworks to allow his clients to pursue their goals.
In recent years, Will has been deeply involved in governance and Sport Integrity matters, including co-authoring the national conduct standard for the Canadian Olympic Committee and working with NSO/MSOs during the introduction of the Abuse-Free Sport initiative. He completed the International Olympic Committee’s Safeguarding Officer in Sport training in 2024.
